Are you a qualified High Voltage electrical worker and looking to refresh your skills? Or maybe your employer requires you to meet compliance standards?
Whatever the case may be, refreshing learning and qualifications is always a great idea in any industry, especially ones as hazardous as high voltage.
When am I required to refresh?
If you’re looking at refreshing your HV Switching skills, the chances are you’ve probably completed your HV Switching Course previously, which would have provided you with a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion.
While it is not legally required by your state’s training body that you refresh your training in a certain time-frame, it is common among most employers that they require you to refresh your training. As is the industry standard, employers will generally require you to refresh HV Switching training every 2-5 years.
What does the Refresher course cover?
The purpose for refreshing HV Switching training every 2-5 years is simply because as industry technology, legislation and skills advance, certain procedures will inevitably become outdated.
The course is designed to keep students up-to-date with current information, legislation and skills when working with high voltage switching operations. It is a Nationally Recognised course which has been written to meet the requirements of the latest training packages; UEP – Electricity Supply Industry – Generation Sector Training Package and UET12 – Transmission, Distribution and Rail Sector Training Package.
The course delivers in-depth training on how to safely perform duties of a High Voltage Switching Operator, which includes the following units of competency:
UEPOPS349 | Operate local H.V. switchgear. |
UEPOPS428 | Develop H.V. switching programs. |
UEPOPS430 | Develop H.V. switching programs. |
UEPOPS456 | Perform switching to a switching program. |
UETTDREL16A | Working safely near live electrical apparatus. |
UETTDRIS44A | Perform HV field switching operations to a given schedule. |
UETTDRIS48A | Develop high voltage switching schedule. |
UETTDRIS67A | Solve problems in energy system substation switching operation to a given schedule. |
UETTDRISB39A | Perform power system substation switching operation to a given schedule |
