QTP – QUALIFIED TECHNICAL PERSON
Are you looking to become a Qualified Technical Person (QTP) in Queensland? This essential course is a key requirement for obtaining an electrical contractor’s licence from the Electrical Safety Office (ESO).
Course Overview:
Location: Queensland Only
Purpose: Fulfill ESO requirements for QTP certification
Eligibility Criteria:
Pre-requisites: Must be met at the time of enrolment
Experience: Hold an ‘Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence’ or equivalent for a minimum of 2 years, issued in any Australian State or Territory
Important Notes:
You can enrol in our course even if you haven’t yet reached the 2-year mark. However, you will only be eligible to apply for your licence with the ESO once you have completed 2 years and obtained your QTP Certificate.
COURSE DELIVERY
Duration: 3 days
Format: Theory and written assessments are delivered holistically
Theory: Completed either Face to Face or via Live Web Zoom
Practical Assessment: Conducted at Volt Edge Northgate or Mackay Training Centre under supervision
Requirements: Students must source Australian Standards and Legislation
Eligibility: Must hold an Unrestricted Electrical Licence for a minimum of 2 years
Attendance: Practical component must be completed face to face at our Northgate or Mackay Training Centre* during the theory course delivery on day 3.
Requirements: Students must source Australian Standards and Legislation, including AS3000 and AS3008.1.1 if completing the theory online
Practical Assessment Policy:
- Students are strongly encouraged to supply their own testing instruments to complete the practical testing component of this course, in accordance with Section 8 of AS/NZS 3000 – Verification and Mandatory Testing. While a limited number of testing sets may be available, we cannot guarantee that sufficient equipment will be provided for all students.
- Students are allowed two (2) attempts to successfully complete the QTP Practical Assessment.
- If the student is deemed unsatisfactory on the QTP Course Practical you will be required to attend the QTP – Resit Course on another day.
- If a student is deemed unsatisfactory on both attempts, they will be required to attend and pay for the Refresher Testing Course. This course will re-teach the necessary skills for undertaking electrical testing.
- Upon completion of the Refresher Course, the student will be given the opportunity to resit the QTP Practical Assessment.
Recommendation: We highly recommend if you are not confident in testing, you attend the 1 day non accredited testing course to update your skills (LV Switching and Testing AS3017 LVR CPR)
