Design and Install Grid Connected Photovoltaic Systems

Course Description
This grid-connect PV course offered by Volt Edge has been designed for licensed electricians (or those holding the pre-requisite units) who want to obtain an SAA (Solar Accreditation Australia). This will enable eligible applicants to access incentives offered by the Federal Government for solar panel installations.

Install – To grid and equipment (Day 1):
License or permit to practice is required to carry out electrical installations, which are designed to operate at voltages greater than 50 volt (V) alternating current (a.c.) or 120 V direct current (d.c.). Install and commission a photovoltaic (PV) power system to power conversion equipment (PCE), matching PV components specified for a given location, placing and securing system components accurately, making required circuit connections and completing the necessary installation documentation.

Conduct Site Surveys (Day 2):
Safe work practices, site inspection processes and procedures, service provider responsibilities, consulting with qualified people to assess client energy demand requirements, assessing grid-connected equipment options to meet client requirements and site conditions, provision to give advice to clients on battery storage standards, codes of practices, government/utilities incentive schemes, and information related to the installation of a grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems.

Design (Day 3 & 4):
For Licensed Electricians or Electrical Engineers with responsibility for designing grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems. Designing grid-connected PV power supply system, following design briefs, utilising data/information from site survey to determine design requirements, ensuring safety and performance standards and functional requirements are met, documenting and obtaining approval for design, install and commission photovoltaic (PV) power conversion equipment (PCE) to grid, installing components in accordance with design, placing and securing system components accurately, making required circuit connections, testing and commissioning the installation and completing the necessary installation documentation.

Practical (Install) (Day 5):
Day 5 Attendance options:
Face-to-Face Students: Automatically enrolled for Day 5.
Live Web Students: Automatically enrolled for Day 5 in the Northgate training facility.
Live Web WPP Students: Practical required to be completed on student’s worksite.

Delivery Modes
Students will complete 4 days of trainer-led theory sessions designed to ensure a thorough understanding of the content and timely submission of assessments. On the 5th day, a practical component is required to apply the knowledge gained.

To achieve this requirement, you need to select one of the following options:

Option 1: In-Person
Theory: 4 days in-class at Volt Edge
Practical: Day 5 at Volt Edge Training Centre

Option 2: Live Web
Theory: 4 days via Live Web
Practical: Day 5 at Volt Edge Training Centre

Option 3: Live Web + Workplace Practical
Theory: 4 days via Live Web
Practical: Day 5 at your workplace under supervision of an SAA accredited installer

Live Web Requirements
