BSQ – Business Supervisor Qualification

Course Description:

A Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) must have a qualified person supervising their business – a Business Supervisor.

A Business Supervisor must manage and administer a Registered Electrical Contractor’s (REC) electrical contracting work and:

  • be responsible for the day-to-day management of the electrical contracting business
  • be responsible for the administration of the electrical contracting business
  • hold an appropriate qualification or have the required experience.

As an REC, you must have a qualified person administering your business and ensure they understand follow applicable sections of the following legislation:

  • Electricity Safety Act 1998 (the Act) – in particular Part 3
  • Electricity Safety (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2020

This course is designed to assist business-orientated persons to get started in an Electrical Contracting Business. The course will provide knowledge of the following:

  • Legalities of setting up and running an electrical business
  • Navigating the Australian Tax LawsInsurance and Workcover responsibilities
  • Risk management practices
  • Negotiation techniques and contract arrangements
  • Developing business plans
  • Writing policies and procedures

Duration and Mode of Delivery:

Face to Face – 2 days (either in class or live web – laptop required)

OR Online self-paced delivery.

Course Accreditation:

This is a Nationally Recognised course with successful students receiving a Statement of Attainment.

  • If you are not the Qualified Technical Person (QTP), you may need their assistance to complete your assessments. Both of you can attend the course at an additional cost, or ensure you have access to the QTP during the completion of your assessments.
  • Submit the required prerequisites (where applicable), prior to commencement of the course. If prerequisites are not provided prior to the commencement of the course, this may affect your eligibility to complete the course.
  • Have access to a stable internet and computer or laptop with Microsoft Office applications as required.
  • Have basic computer skills to undertake and complete the assessments.
  • Complete and submit the required assessment.
  • Review and comply with the conditions detailed in the Student Handbook.
