What is the Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical?

The UEE42622 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical provides the skills and knowledge required to work with electrical equipment and systems installed in hazardous areas.

The qualification covers competencies associated with the selection, installation, commissioning, maintenance and testing of explosion-protected equipment and systems used for the control and monitoring of plant and processes.

At Volt Edge, students complete the required Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) competencies, in conjunction with undertaking additional an additional 5 units online self paced training to meet the requirements of the full qualification.

Course Structure

The UEE42622 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical is achieved through a combination of:

• EEHA Skillset – Pre-selected EEHA units delivered face to face by Volt Edge, with refresher and upgrade options available where applicable.
• Certificate IV Gap Training (5 units) – Additional units completed online through our self-paced learning management system.
• Credit Transfer – Where applicable, students are required to supply evidence of completion through an academic transcript or USI

Course Delivery

The EEHA component is delivered face to face, while the Certificate IV gap training is completed online and self-paced through the Volt Edge Learning Management System.

Students have a maximum of 12 months to complete the online assessment requirements from the release of the course material, subject to the applicable course and funding requirements.

CSQ Funding

What is Construction Skills Queensland?

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded organisation that supports employers, workers, apprentices, trainees and career seekers across Queensland’s building and construction industry.

CSQ works with selected Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to provide subsidised training and skills development opportunities for eligible workers.

CSQ funding is available across several programs, including Short Courses, Higher Qualifications and Skills Assessment and Gap Training. The Higher Qualifications Program supports eligible workers seeking higher-level qualifications to expand their skills and knowledge and progress into higher-level or specialist roles.

CSQ Funding for UEE42622 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical

UEE42622 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical is included in CSQ’s Higher Qualifications – Building funding program.

The CSQ contribution helps reduce the cost of training for eligible participants.

The amount of CSQ funding and participant contribution can vary. Funding is subject to eligibility, availability and the applicable CSQ funding arrangements at the time of enrolment.

Your eligibility for CSQ funding will be assessed as part of the application process.

Who may be eligible?

CSQ states that workers who are currently or recently employed in the Queensland building and construction industry may be eligible for CSQ-funded training. Eligibility is determined by the training provider based on the applicable CSQ requirements.

You will need to complete the CSQ eligibility and application requirements before your funding can be confirmed.

Being eligible for the qualification does not automatically mean you are eligible for CSQ funding.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in the UEE42622 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical, you must meet the electrical industry entry requirements.

You must hold one of the following:

• UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, or
• A current Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence, or
• An equivalent electrical qualification/licence issued in an Australian state or territory.

Additional CSQ eligibility requirements also apply to participants seeking subsidised training.

What You’ll Complete

Your Certificate IV pathway includes:

Face-to-Face EEHA Training

Complete the required Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) competencies through Volt Edge’s practical, face-to-face training.

Our EEHA training focuses on the practical application of hazardous-area requirements and the knowledge required to work with electrical equipment in hazardous locations.

Online Certificate IV Gap Training

Complete the additional up to 5 Certificate IV units through our online learning management system.

The gap training is self-paced, allowing you to complete the required assessment activities around your work and other commitments.

Credit Transfer

Your existing electrical qualifications and training may allow you to receive credit for one of the required competencies.

Your electrical licence and training transcript will be reviewed to determine whether the relevant unit can be recognised.

If the required competency cannot be credited, you will need to complete the applicable online self-paced unit.

Course Duration

The EEHA training is delivered over 5 days face to face, followed by the required Certificate IV gap training completed online and self-paced.

Students have up to 12 months to complete their online assessment requirements from the release of the course material, subject to the applicable course and funding conditions.

CSQ Funding Application Process

Applying for CSQ-funded training is straightforward.

1. Check your eligibility
Review the course entry requirements and CSQ eligibility requirements to make sure you may be eligible for subsidised training.

2. Select your course date
Go to the Volt Edge course calendar and select the date that suits you. SELECT THE EEHA Course date that you are interested in attending, then select the Cert IV in HA – Electrical – UEE42622 CSQ 2627

3. Apply online
Select Apply and complete the application through the Volt Edge Learning Management System.

Please note that the CSQ application/eligibility information provided during the application process must be completed through the Volt Edge LMS. Do not email the application form.

4. Complete the eligibility assessment
Volt Edge will assess your application against the relevant course and CSQ funding requirements.

CSQ funding must be confirmed before it can be applied to your course fees.

5. Pay your participant contribution
Once your enrolment is confirmed, payment instructions will be provided. Where a participant contribution applies, payment is required before the course commences.
